Overview

This standard comprises the following elements:

This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as munition clearance supervisors.

Performance Criteria

1 Confirm the threat posed by munitions
P1 work safely at all times, complying with relevant health and safety, environmental and other regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 achieve a positive identification of the munition type(s)
P3 establish objectively the status by the optimum means when possible to do so
P4 when it is not possible to achieve a positive identification, you must:
P4.1 assess the status of the munition when possible
P4.2 inspect and record sufficient details as to enable you to carry out further research
P4.3 obtain and analyse the information to enable you to achieve a positive identification where possible
P5 re-evaluate the threats posed by the munition in the light of the additional knowledge
P6 identify and report the threat posed by the item when it is beyond the scope of your expertise and the availability of resources
P7 record and report your findings in accordance with operational requirements and organizational procedures
