Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to assist in locating the position of the munition in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

You will be required to demonstrate that you can use appropriate equipment and resources effectively, to the recognized standards and manufacturer’s instructions confirming that the area has been searched within the stated criteria in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as munition clearance support personnel.

Performance Criteria

P1 work safely at all times, complying with relevant health and safety, environmental and other regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 remove any obstacles that might impede the task
P3 mark out the area and/or access route, as directed by your instructions, using the appropriate method
P4 ensure that the area you mark is accurate to within the prescribed tolerances
P5 report any potential problems to the appropriate authority
P6 implement protective measures within your area of responsibility
P7 pinpoint the position of the munition to such proximity as to enable it to be identified
P8 use appropriate equipment and resources effectively, to the recognized standards and manufacturer’s instructions
P9 mark the location of the munition if required to do so
P10 plot the location of the munition to the prescribed accuracy if required to do so
P11 confirm that the area has been searched within the stated criteria
