Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to confirm the presence of munition(s) in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

You will be required to demonstrate that you can review and update your threat assessment, assessing objectively the feasibility of the operation in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as munition clearance supervisors.

Performance Criteria

P1 work safely at all times, complying with relevant health and safety, environmental and other regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 review and update your threat assessment
P3 assess objectively the feasibility of the operation
P4 manage hazards effectively
P5 select and use appropriate resources and equipment
P6 gain safe access to the potential munition(s) by the optimum means
P7 define/mark the route
P8 pinpoint the position of the potential munition(s) to such proximity as to enable confirmation
P9 challenge inconsistencies or anomalies of information
P10 use alternative methods to corroborate your evidence
P11 take prompt, corrective action in the event of problems arising
P12 communicate progress to relevant agencies
