Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to prepare the explosives process area and equipment in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

You will be required to demonstrate that you can ensure that you have the process instructions detailing the work to be carried out, dealing promptly with problems, reporting any that you cannot solve and/or are not your responsibility in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes those working as manufacturing and general explosives operators.

Performance Criteria

P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 ensure that you have the required authorization to proceed
P3 ensure that you have the process instructions detailing the work to be carried out
P4 comply with the process instructions
P5 confirm that you have the correct tools
P6 ensure that the process area is cleared of all unnecessary equipment
P7 clear and clean all residual materials and/or waste from the area to the required standard
P8 re-assemble equipment ready for the next operation when required
P9 ensure that all equipment is confirmed as being clean and operational
P10 confirm that the area is in a suitable condition for the next activity
P11 deal promptly with problems, reporting any that you cannot solve and/or are not your responsibility
P12 explain to relevant personnel about any problems and the current status of the equipment
P13 complete correctly the required documentation
