Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to plan configuration activities for explosive substances and/or articles in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

You will be required to demonstrate that you can assemble and allocate suitable resources to complete the configuration activities. Ensure that a business risk assessment has been carried out in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as maintenance and manufacturing managers.

Performance Criteria

P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 confirm the customer’s configuration requirements
P3 assemble and allocate suitable resources to complete the configuration activities
P4 ensure that the current configuration of the explosive substances and/or article is established accurately
P5 produce a clear and accurate configuration plan
P6 ensure that a business risk assessment has been carried out
P7 agree deliverables with the customer
P8 report any problems and/or non-conformities promptly to the appropriate authority
P9 record all configuration agreements made in accordance with organizational procedures
P10 maintain the requirements of confidentiality at all times
P11 comply with the appropriate quality standards

K1 the health, safety and environmental and other statutory legislation, regulations and safe working practices and procedures governing explosives and their implications for your area of work

K3 the nature, characteristics, hazards and risks of the explosive substance and/or article

K7 the specification and standards of the explosive article and/or substance and acceptable tolerances
K8 the interchange ability of the explosive article and/or substance
K9 the available resources, and the timescale for the configuration task
