Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to implement the routine assembly of explosive substances and/or articles in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

You will be required to demonstrate that you can carry out the assembly activities in the specified sequence and in an agreed time scale. Reporting any instances where the assembly activities cannot be fully met or where there are identified faults outside the planned task in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as maintenance and manufacturing operators.

Scope and Range

1 Level and extent of responsibility: assembly of the lowest sub-assembly and
routine testing; carrying out routine assembly tasks on complex systems under
the supervisor’s direction
2 Types of assembly procedures and activities: non-critical routine assembly
of explosive articles; critical routine assembly where sign-off by a supervisor is
required
