Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to supervise the placing of explosive substances and/or articles into storage in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

You will be required to demonstrate that you can confirm that the location and conditions are appropriate for the storage of explosive substances and/or articles, resolving any problems within your level of authority in placing explosive substances and/or articles in the right locations in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes those working as manufacturing, maintenance, storage, transport and disposal supervisors.

Performance Criteria

P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 confirm that the location and conditions are appropriate for the storage of explosive substances and/or articles
P3 co-ordinate alternative suitable storage locations when required
P4 allocate and brief appropriate staff
P5 manage the allocation of handling equipment to meet all tasking requirements
P6 resolve any problems within your level of authority in placing explosive substances and/or articles in the right locations
P7 ensure that all documentation is correctly completed
