Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to despatch explosive substances and/or articles in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

You will be required to demonstrate that you can confirm the consignment details by checking against documentation, making sure that you are clear about your own responsibilities in accordance with approved procedures.

This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes those working as storage operators and transport supervisors.

Performance Criteria

P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 confirm the serviceability of the loading equipment
P3 report faulty equipment to the right person
P4 make sure that the vehicles are in the right place, and are properly prepared for loading
P5 confirm the consignment details by checking against documentation
P6 report any defects or shortfalls in the consignment
P7 make sure that you are clear about your own responsibilities
P8 ensure appropriate segregation in accordance with organizational procedures
P9 distribute the load evenly, securely and in accordance with the loading plan
P10 complete the necessary documentation correctly

Scope and Range

1. Consignments: single; multiple
