This standard covers the competences you need to supervise the selection, preparation and despatch of explosive substances and/or articles inaccordance with approved procedures and practices.
You will be required to demonstrate that you can ensure that the correct items are selected, prepared and despatched, in accordance with the order, reporting any shortfalls in the order to the right person in accordance with approved procedures.
This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes those working as storage supervisors.
P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 ensure that the correct items are selected, prepared and despatched, in accordance with the order
P3 report any shortfalls in the order to the right person
P4 ensure that sufficient manpower and equipment are available to enable the goods to be selected and despatched on time
P5 determine accurately any requirements for pre- issue inspection, fractioning, re-work and repackaging
P6 ensure that any pre-issue activity is completed to meet pipeline times
P7 ensure that appropriate action is taken in accordance with organizational procedures where explosive substances and/or articles are reported to be in a suspect or damaged state
P8 ensure that all documentation is fully and accurately completed
P9 ensure that the order is correctly packaged and labelled, to comply with relevant legislation
P10 resolve any problems, within your level of authority
K1 the health, safety and environmental and other statutory legislation, regulations and safe working practices and procedures governing explosives and their implications for your area of work

K3 the nature, characteristics, hazards and risks of the explosive substance and/or article
