This standard covers the competences you need to obtain information on explosive substances and articles load in accordance with approved procedures and practices.
You will be required to demonstrate that you can identify any problems with obtaining the information on the load, and take appropriate action, communicating in an appropriate manner with the relevant people in accordance with approved procedures.
This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as transport supervisors and operators.
P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 identify where information on the load can be obtained
P3 identify any problems with obtaining the information on the load, and take appropriate action
P4 identify any special requirements for loading and unloading
P5 identify any special requirements for monitoring the load during transport
P6 communicate in an appropriate manner with the relevant people
P7 check and complete the consignment and transport documentation, in line with legal requirements and organizational policies and procedures
K1 the health, safety and environmental and other statutory legislation, regulations and safe working practices and procedures governing explosives and their implications for your area of work
K2 the relevance of personal protective equipment (PPE)
K3 the nature, characteristics, hazards and risks of the explosive substance and/or article
K4 the actions to be taken in response to an unplanned event
K5 the required information on the load
K6 the types of special requirement that could be requested
K7 typical problems that could occur with the load
