This Improvised Explosive Device Disposal course aims to provide training in the skills required to perform the role of an Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD) Operator in a permissive environment. The emphasis is on the practical aspects of the render safe of IEDs and includes the use of IEDD Weapons, Remotely Operated Vehicles and Digital Radiography.
On satisfactory completion of the course, the individual will have enhanced their knowledge and practised skills as an IEDD Operator, to carry out the reconnaissance and render safe of IEDs.
During the course, candidates take on the role of an IEDD Operator in realistic simulations of operational scenarios where all aspects of the event are practised including input from other emergency services.
The course meets the European Union EOD competency standards and UK National Occupational Standards (NOS).
